Impossible is a Lie

One word that I truly can’t stand is “impossible” (as in something can’t be done). It reeks of negativity, and in itself is generally false. I’m sure you’ve had people tell you that something you want to do can’t be done. Before 1903 it was said that it’s impossible for man to fly. Orville and Wilbur Wright beat that impossible. In the athletic world, it was said that a man can’t run a mile in under four minutes. Roger Bannister beat that impossible. In both cases (like many others) it didn’t take long for others to follow. The world record time for a mile run is now 3:43.13 and airline travel is one of the biggest industries in the world.

Once the trail is blazed, it shows others that what was once thought to be impossible, can actually be done (Related: What I Learned From Miss America 2013). “Impossible” has been done time and time again, by ordinary people with extraordinary passion. It takes unwavering determination in the face of adversity and those that tell you “it can’t be done.” It takes an attitude of “There’s no such thing as impossible.” Only “It hasn’t been done YET.”
